Is Capitalism better than Communism?

Let’s face it, capitalism has been the norm for actual successful countries for hundreds of years, but communism was, and still is, one of the most popular ideologies to ever rival it. The history of capitalism stretches all the way back to England, hundreds of years ago, where free markets ruled the streets of the country. Of course, this was just capitalism’s start, and capitalism molded into having your country be ruled by big corporations and stuff like that. Communism however, started much later, some people say it started in 1917 when Vladimir Lenin took power, others say it started in 1848, when Karl Marx and Emmanuel Engels wrote the famous “Communist Manifesto”.
Whereas Capitalism focuses on free-markets and income-equality, Communism, organically, states that to be quite frank, “Your potatoes are our potatoes, say, you think otherwise, go to a Siberian gulag.”
